About Us
Cultural Interpretations, LLC was created by Julie Marino in December of 2007 as a way to
preserve and share indigenous and folk cultures. Rita Flores de Wallace is the
contributing artist who is a wealth of first-hand knowledge about the ancient customs and
roots of Mexico's kaleidoscope of cultures. Together, Julie and Rita have created numerous
ways to tell the story of the people of the past and their roots that give nourishment to the
present.
Rita Flores de Wallace Contributing Artist/Folk Historian
A native of Saltillo, Coahuila Mexico, Rita Flores de Wallace has dedicated
her life to the expression of cultural roots of the peoples of Mexico through
art work, stories and dance. Trained by the last Tlaxcaltecan dancer, Rita is
impressed by the adage, “Reach for the Stars.” However, she believes that
the pursuit of our dreams becomes infinitely richer when we stoop to our
roots to gather the wealth that they yield. Cultural Interpretations is proud to
have Rita as the contributing artist for the 2009-2011 exhibitions,
workshops, and cultural market featuring histories from indigenous Mexico.
Julie Marino Owner/Director
Curator, anthropologist, and cultural historian, Julie Marino, works directly
with people of indigenous heritage to understand their life experience. She
has created Cultural Interpretations as a voice for the people, in order to
bring meaning and enrichment to our lives, underscoring the common
human experience that unites us all. Julie has 16 years of experience as
a museum professional and possesses a Master’s degree in Museum
Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Julie also has
extensive experience as a certified Art educator in New York and Colorado.
Julie develops and produces all of the educational materials available for
sale.
